International driver's license

Finally I managed to go to the local Land Transportation Office and get my international driver's license.
Was pretty easy:
- Take your ID card & your driver's license with you
- Take a photo at the next photoshop - 3mins, 10€
- Go to the office, wait - 10mins, 0€
- Get to the officer, hand in everything, go upstairs, pay - 5mins, 16€
- Pick up my international driver's license - CHECK!

 

Endlich habe ich meinen internationalen Führerschein! Schneller als erwartet. Alles was man braucht: Personalausweis/ Reisepass, gültiger Führerschein,  ein Passfoto und etwas Kleingeld.

Damit muss man zu dem lokalen Ordnungsamt bzw. der lokalen Führerscheinstelle tingeln. Je nach Stadt kostet der internationale Führerschein etwas mehr oder weniger, ca. 15€. Wenn der Führerschein schon im Checkkarten-Format ist und auch bei der gleichen Stelle ausgestellt wurde bekommt man seinen internationalen Führerschein sofort ausgehändigt.

Health Insurance

 If you go on a trip somewhere you do need a health insurance. I am not the worried type of person, but I think it is better to be insured, just in case.
Two days ago, I finally booked my health insurance at Hanse-Merkur. They offer various types of insurances, the one I got is especially for students studying abroad. It costs 29€ per month, but everything from tooth replacement to bringing you back to your homecountry is covered. I already booked an insurance at Hanse-Merkur once before, which I had to cancel in the end, and they were really accommodating.

Was für jede Reise zu empfehlen ist, ist eine Auslands-Krankenversicherung. Ich gehöre bestimmt nicht zu den besorgten Menchen auf unserem Planeten, aber sicher ist sicher.
Also habe auch ich vor zwei Tagen endlich meine Krankenversicherung bei der Hanse-Merkur gebucht. Es gibt verschiedenste Typen von Krankenversicherung für Auslandsaufenthalte, meine ausgewählte Versicherung ist aber speziell für Schüler/Studenten die einen Auslandsaufenthalt planen. Die Kosten belaufen sich auf 29€ im Monat, allerdings ist vom Zahnersatz bis Rücktransport alles versichert.
Da ich bereits einmal eine Versicherung bei Hanse-Merkur gebucht habe, die ich am Ende aber canceln musste, und die Versicherung sich sehr kulant zeigte bei der Rückerstattung, kann ich die Hanse-Merkur nur weiterempfehlen (Stiftung Warentest bestätigt das auch ;) )

Me and Jana got to know two veeeery nice swedish girls, who are also going to study with us in Phuket. So as we are now four persons, we decided to look for a house for rent in Phuket. There are several gorgeous looking townhouses and villas, but some are too expensive for students. So during our first days in Phuket the four of us will go house-hunting.Gonna be fuuuun! :)
